Galicia Is A Genuine Treat PDF Print E-mail

If you're looking for a nice scenic vacation, a holiday experience that's filled with natural wonder, culture, history, in a setting that's majestic and friendly, then Galicia in Spain is one outstanding possibility. Galicia's rich traditions, combined with many modern influences makes it a wonderful destination for your holiday.

Galicia offers something that's out of the ordinary, a genuine people-friendly region who are famous for their hospitality, as well as their world-famous cooking, especially their seafood and wines. If you're a fan of eating, you may never wish to leave Galicia. Half of the mussels in the world are harvested off of the shores of Galicia, and do they know how to cook them! Or perhaps you're more interested in the Polvo ā Feira (fresh octopus prepared with oil, salt and hot paprika), or an empanada (a cross between a pizza and a meatcake).

If those specialties don't whet your appetite, then perhaps you're into more simple fare, such as the Caldo Galego or "poor mans stew", or the Bacallau ao Alvariņo. Or maybe you're looking for something a little more exotic, such as spider crabs, sweet barnacles, or other fresh delights from the ocean.

If you leave just enough room in your stomach, you'll find that Galicia has its fair share of interesting desserts, such as churros, which are common throughout the region. And if you're in Santiago de Compostela, you can ask about the torta de Santiago, a cake with the Galician Cross (also known as the Cross of Santiago) drawn into the icing. Of course, you can wash it down with Galicia's fine selections of wines, a Licor Café (coffee liquor), on a frothy Estrella Galicia (the local beer).

So don't delay, and book your Galician holiday right now, and when you get there you can let your tummy be your guide.
